Tommy's first birthday party/ La primera fiesta de cumpleanos de Tommy

On Saturday Thomas went to his first birthday party. Aiden and Danielle's (friends from school) son, Lorcan, was 3 and had a fancy dress party. Thomas went as a Roman soldier (tunic by mum, armour and helmet by dad). After some persuading we got him in his tunic and armour but he didn't fancy the helmet. He had a really good time and played very nicely with the other children (they were mostly big boys!).

Easter Holidays

My mum and dad came to visit us for Easter. They came for ten days so after showing them all the sights we had nine days left to kill.....only joking. We did, however, spend a few days at the Hilton.

"How do you solve a problem like Maria (Belén)?" Actually Belén and Mum had to wear and abayas (spelling?) to get in the Grand Mosque.

Belén's dad, Aladino, came to stay with us for 2 weeks last month. As you can see from the photos he had a great time visiting the sights of Kuwait and indulging in a few of the local customs.

Tommy's cars/Los coches de Tommy

Tommy likes his cars and tractors (which will make his Grandad Aladino happy!). Here he is at Kuwait Magic, the shopping mall close to where we live. We hope he doesn't pick up any of the local driving habits.

Our new rug/Nuestra alfombra nueva

We bought a new rug at the Friday market. According to the salesman it was hand made in Turkey (we'll take his word for it). We're happy as it covers up most of the cold marble floor in our living room.

Now we can play on the floor as well!

Ahora podemos jugar por el suelo, tambien!

Thomas goes to the scientific centre/Thomas va al centro cientifico

Last weekend we went to the scientific centre. I wanted to drive but I couldn't reach the pedals.

We saw some big crocodiles that looked very scary.

After that scare we went to see the tropical fish which were very beautiful but not easy to photograph (ask my mum, she took lots to get this one)

Lots of people have told me that sharks were dangerous and scary. I wasn't that impressed with the first one I saw.....

.....but I was with the second!

......pero el segundo si!

After the scientific centre aquarium I went looking for another form of transport to go home on. A little girl lent me this bike but I wanted something bigger and faster.....

.....mmmm this one's not bad.....

I think I'll just have a sleep in my car seat instead.

Camel racing/Carreras de camellos

Last weekend we headed out into the dessert to watch some camel racing. A very interesting experience. During the races the camels have robot jockeys, they used to be young boys but they weren't always willing participants and so they have been replaced with robots.
